Gantry Cranes

Portal or gantry cranes are commonly used in open air projects. The diffenence between the gantry cranes to bridge cranes is the fact that gantry cranes moves on the legs attached to wheels not on the gusettes supports but on the ground. There are two types of gantry cranes semi gantry cranes and gantry cranes.

Both legs of the gantry cranes moves on the rails on the ground. Used where there are no supporting structures next to the crane.
